“The University of Northern Colorado baseball team has finally found a home, and it is a familiar one.

The Bears have joined the Great West Conference as an associate member in baseball beginning next season, Great West commissioner Ed Grom announced Friday.

The conference also added the New York Institute of Technology to bring the total of baseball schools in the conference to eight. Chicago State, Houston Baptist, North Dakota, Texas-Pan American, Utah Valley and the New Jersey Institute of Technology are also members.

The Bears will play a 28-game conference season that will run every weekend beginning April 9, 2010 and run through May 22. The season will culminate with the first Great West championship, May 26-29 at Texas-Pan American. Teams will play a four-game series in three days against each conference member.”
