smstank…. not sure you get your information from? Of the 4 teams in soon to be defunct CHA, two have been accepted in Atlantic Hockey, 1 (Bemidji State) has applied to join the WCHA and the fourth, UAH (Alabama-Huntsville) has applied to join the CCHA.

bevo, The major leagues (like BCS conferences in football) are Hockey East, ECAC, Central Collegiate Hockey Assoc (CCHA), and Western Collegiate Hockey Assoc (WCHA). The mid-majors are the Atlantic Hockey League (AHL) and the now defunct College Hockey America (CHA). Of the 4 teams in the defunct CHA 2 joined the AHL. One is dropping D I hockey and the 4th team, Bemidji, is trying to join the WCHA, but the WCHA wants another team to join with them to keep even numbers (i.e. Omaha). Hope that helps

It is really not a big deal because of the fact that Division I and II have to combine in hockey because of the lack of teams that play college hockey.

Would somebody please post a summary of the alphabet soup leagues that comprise college hockey. In other words, why is this a big deal?

It is especially good to see that Trev Alberts is out of TV. He seemed very bitter and angry too often on ESPN. He was better on CBS when he was working games. He knows too much about sports in Nebraska not to be involved in some capacity. Look for him to potentially be the Nebraska A.D. maybe once Tom Osbourne retires, which might not be too long. He could go the Joba Chamberlain route.
