While applaud UNO's administration for its leadership, which is sorely missing at places like Houston Baptist and NJ Tech, this move represents everything wrong with Division III. The majority of schools participate in Division III because of a cost motivation move rather than a philosophical motivation.

The NCAA needs a division for schools that want an athletics program that mirrors Division I and II in philosophical motivation but is done on the cheap.

No where, though, has there been explanation of why UNO does not consider a move to Division II. The only reason I can think of is because Division III has a much lower cost compared to Division II.
