The majority of schools participate in Division III because of a cost motivation move rather than a philosophical motivation.

The NCAA needs a division for schools that want an athletics program that mirrors Division I and II in philosophical motivation but is done on the cheap.

No where, though, has there been explanation of why UNO does not consider a move to Division II. The only reason I can think of is because Division III has a much lower cost compared to Division II.
