After spending nearly 3 months performing a grueling coach search at DePaul, Athletic Director Jean Lenti Ponsetto will announce the rehiring of Jerry Wainwright on Friday. When asked about the move to rehire Wainwright, Ponsetto stated that the school just didn’t have enough time to find any better candidates. DePaul initially had reached out to Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, Roy Williams and Mike Krzyzewski, but ultimately felt those coaches lacked the abilities of former coach Wainright.  Ponsetto also stated that DePaul thinks Wainright is the best coach to help the school during it’s transition from the Big East to the Big Ten next year.
