The Huntsville Times is reporting that the SWAC has invited Tennessee St. to join. The addition of Tennessee St. would give the SWAC eleven total members. No immediate decision is expected  by Tennessee St. until after their incoming president has had time to review the option.

If Tennessee St. were to leave their current conference, the Ohio Valley Conference, it would lower their membership number to 10 members. The OVC has for sometime considered expansion from 11 to 12 members but has help off.

Should the OVC seek to expand, the conference could look to potential Division 2 upgrades like North Alabama, or to other Division 1 schools such as Belmont and Lipscomb. The OVC could also try to get WIU to leave the Summit League and MVFC for all-sports membership in the OVC.
