I’m pissed. Colorado State didn’t even call me, then hired an idiot like Eustachy. :)
Iowa State to Colorado State seems like a lateral move to me, which makes me believe ISU was wanting to get rid of him anyway. I think Colorado State could have done better. It’s hard to tell these days though, with all the possible conference realignments and the money being thrown around. Opinions or comments?

Covered him at Auburn. Young aggressive well thought of. Brought TSU a million miles from where they were. Plus Miami is a good job. I see him on a trek like Groce was.

I like John Cooper too, he’s a nice guy and a decent coach. I have watched him coach Tennessee State in the OVC for last 3 years, but don’t know the basis of your “red hot” comment or why you think “he’ll be at a BCS level school soon”. The guy’s been coaching for only 3 years with records of 9-23,14-16, and 20-13 this year for an overall record of 43-52 (win pct. of .453). Yes, he was one of only two coaches to beat Murray State this year, but he has only one winning season and a record of 27-27 (.500) in the Ohio Valley Conference. He was probably just the 4th best coach in that league this year. IMHO, he’s gonna be lucky to still be at Miami 3-4 seasons from now, and not because he’s moved on to a BCS school. As an OVC fan and follower, I wish him the best of luck, but Miami could have done better on this hire.

Gotta think the LSU job has Eustachy’s name written all over it. Or Kenny Payne from Kentucky. Thought form sure he was gonna take the Mississippi State job…John Cooper is red hot. I like him alot. Miami (Oh) is a good job in the MAC. He’ll be at a BCS level school soon. Watch out for Spoonhour at EIU…

Good luck CMU fans. Davis has one super season at Drake a couple years ago, parlays that into arguably the worst job in the Big East (Providence), is fired (of course), then takes the Chippewa job until he can do the same thing all over to you. He’s not even half the coach is Dad was, with even fewer principles. I feel sorry for you to be stuck with a guy like that…

Agreed, but he’s listed on almost EVERY major D1 opening you have listed. You know everyone’s not interested in him, and that he’s not interested in all of those.
Also find it funny that John Cooper is listed as possible for Mississippi State job. He’s had one good season at TSU. Donnie Tyndall of Morehead State can coach circles around everybody in that league (OVC), yet he’s hardly ever mentioned.

No. But he took the WSU job mostly because despite his great work at Winthrop, there weren’t BCS level schools showing interest. So he moved to WSU to continue his climb. This time around, there are a few schools that DO want him. South Carolina is the obvious choice since he coached at CofC and Winthrop. If something happened and he didn’t get that job, he’s proven he can handle a new region like at WSU…making Nebraska a potential option. And lets not forget Illinois, the best job of the 3. If they can’t get Shaka Smart, Marshall might be an option there as well as Marshall has now proven that region doesn’t matter after success in the southeast and plains states.
