There has been some recent talk about North Alabama and a potential upgrade to Division I. The OVC seems to be the best option right now although the Southland could be an option as well with their strong football program.
UNA must not leave NCAA Division II. Based on their own report, UNA's facilities are not among the top third of NCAA Division II. The school fails to fund fully its scholarship.
If the school lacks the resources (i.e., facilities, administrators, scholarship money) to be dominant, then the school will get crushed in Division I.
UNA's consideration of such a moves points to a lack of leadership by its board, its president, and its athletics director.
