I wouldn't put a whole lot of weight on the comments of a few NIU fans on a message board. I don't think it would be wise for them to ever leave the MAC again. The travel is too good and it presents a reasonable road to a New Years 6 bowl. The American is simply too unstable and may not be any greener on the other side.

As far as expansion schools for the MAC someone would probably have to leave first and I don't know who ever would. The only school that might have a better geographic fit would be if Buffalo ever were included in a group with UMass, UConn, Temple, and maybe the service academies to build a northeastern league that spread from New England down to Virginia or North Carolina. If they were to leave the next MAC school would surely come from the MVFC.

Considering everything else with the MAC...why not go for Youngstown State if they lose a school? Especially now that they have a bigger coach and AD.

12 of the below would work:
UConn, UMass, Temple, Buffalo, Marshall, JMU, UDel, Towson, ODU, ECU, UNCC, Army, Navy, AFA

I made a post a while back about the Northeastern schools working together to form a hybrid league that would better suite the needs of those institutions. I was looking at UConn, UMass, Temple, Buffalo, ECU, and Marshall as essential all sports members. Army and Navy for football only. Send out feelers to see if USF and UCF would be interested in being full members. As mor non-football schools I'm thinking programs like VCU and Dayton. Charlotte, ODU, JMU, and Delaware would also be programs that could round out the conference.

I think that could work for a number of schools below the A-10.

But the "best of" every basketball school that's not in the Power Five, American, or or Big East basically exists already and is the Atlantic 10. I will post stats if provoked.
