The WAC still has some good teams and can be quite viable. LA Tech seeking C-USA is understandable. Them staying in the WAC has to be weighed due to the distance factor.

With two other State schools from Louisiana in the SunBelt, it is understandable LA Tech would be reluctant to seek to go back there.

What LA Tech needs for staying with the WAC is a "bridge" school or two in Texas embracing the WAC. For now, that is not going to happen unless there are teams such as Sam Houston State or Stephen F. Austin that decide to upgrade to 1-A. Also, the SunBelt may seek another Texas school in the future that is in addition to N. Texas. Further, another MWC expansion could have an impact.
