With everything that will occur in the next 5 years in terms of realignment is it me or does it look like some Sunbelt teams could have membership in a new league full of middle to high end programs? Nonetheless, I think some Sunbelt teams are gonna end up real winners here. The result could form an emerging conference with some sweet regional ties.

If C-USA had leftovers of USM, Tulane, USF, Memphis and UAB (you forgot about them), they would also have Houston and TCU (unless they get to the MWC). They would then have smu, rice and tulsa at the snap of a finger.
The sun belt christmas present is more likely La Tech and UTEP.

The Sun Belt Conference already has 14 members. What's more likely to happen is that it becomes cherry-picked of its existing members. The current SBC has regional issues and basketball-football issues to be worked out. The idea of C-USA or WAC teams departing for the SBC en masse is illogical.

What I meant was something in terms of what Publius said. In that scenario schools like Memphis, SMiss, USF, UAB, and Tulane would join forces with the SE based schools of the Sun Belt in a new 8-10 team conference. Ark St., Troy State, ULM, ULL, and MT State would create a pretty decent conference.

As for the left over Sun Belt schools they would still have enough all sports members to sponsor a conference or maybe the members could team up with the leftover C-USA schools and form a new MWC.

14 members? I thought the SunBelt only had 8-9 for football?

Seems to me the geography issue will be more critical for these non-BCS leagues. What I'm seeing is a large cluster of teams between So. Miss and NMSU, and then enough teams on either side to make a large division or one small conference. Assuming the SunBelt teams would be the last ones picked by the big boys anyway, I can envision where they'd be left on the sidelines as a group, willing and able to invite the poor schools left out of the larger realignment efforts.

They will also have to compete with the eastern expansion of the WAC

The CUSA and Sunbelt - Teams like Tulsa and La Tech have no business being in the WAC - teams like Idaho and New Mexico State have no business being in the Sunbelt - in addition, isn't it a little crazy to have Southern Miss and Army in the same conference (I know, Army just flew the coop, and rightly so) - anyway, the PAC 10 should pick up two and the MWC and WAC should give some of the eastern schools up (some Texas schools, Okie schools and Louisiana schools) and work together to form a conference or two - the Sunbelt should give up it's western schools to the aforementioned - the Sunbelt and CUSA should get together and form a southern conference while the more northern schools from the CUSA (and Army) should go with the Big East - Notre Dame to the Big 10 - the ACC just needs one more, and we'll have a number of geographically sound 12 member conferences - Arkansan
