Outstandingly detailed article on MWC expansion scenarios, as well as a lot of good historical info:

Thanx again, javaman--this is a terrific site you have going. I am glad I found it ;D

I have been closely watching the MWC since their inception, and I believe they will expand in '95; not before. Fresno State fans are desperately seeking a stronger alliance, and the MWC is probably our best hope.

By the way, Tarkanian both helped and hurt our program. We have a state-of-the-art arena about to be completed that he is largely responsible for. On the other hand, his renegade reputation has stung us. Nonetheless, a reflection of many national programs (consider Miami) shows they had such growing pains, too. In this television age it is part-and-parcel of the process, I think.

Welcome dogfan, we certainly can use more western members here for their perspective

I sometimes think those wonderfully literate and articulate easterners have never ever seen a tumbleweed, let alone ever have the word "howdy" cross their lips....

so feel free to contribute and join...

Does the MWC plan on banning partial qualifiers as well? Or do they plan on limiting them, ala' the Big 12.

Starting this fall, MWC no longer allows non-qualifiers of any kind. Interesting coincidence that Fresno State announced the same recently, isn't it? The die is cast, Fresno State is at the top of the MWC list...

D&Dfan, didn't know BigXII allowed "limited" non qualifiers. If that is true looks like MWC moves ahead of BigXII academically.... And perhaps also trying to improve its BCS posturing...

I read somewhere though that schools can still pull some shenanigans in this area, by shepherding the student to an arranged junior college, and transferring at a later point?

Would welcome input from those knowledgeable about this practice....
:)
