A bit confusing but is this stating that they could add 2 more bball schools? If they truly wanted to balance the league they'd need to bball schools in the East to balance out UTA/UALR in the West.

Would Davidson/Belmont be interested in this league if they went to 12/16?

West- NMSU, Texas St, Lamar, Ark St, ULL, ULM w/ UTA & UALR
East - SoBama, Troy, GA St, GA So, App St, Liberty w/ Davidson & Belmont

Everyone is expecting the SBC to invite App. st and Ga Southern soon. App st, Lamar, and Liberty are all receiving top 25 votes for baseball. Would an early vote now on any of these schools hurt their post season chances?

probably not. There are 2 possibilities on why it's taking so long
1) They are discussion who pays teams exit fees and what not.
2)They might not know who the C-USA will take if Tulsa leaves.

It might be a combination of the above two things. Could there be some problem in deciding who would get invited first? Some may want NMSU to be the first invite so they don't need to wait for reclassification for football. Others may want to expand to the east first. I'm figuring that if NMSU is invited that they will join in 2014 at the earliest.

It does not affect baseball or any other non/fb sport because they would still be playing in the same division (D1).

SoCon/SouthLand/Big South are all already Division I along with the Sun Belt, so switching only affects football because they'd be switching divisions DIAA/FCS to DIA/FBS and thus reclassifying.

Basically when they reclassify they are in the process of adding more scholarships to get to 85.

Year 1- they'll play in the FCS w/ increased scholarships for 1 year while still playing in FCS though ineligible for the post season/championships.
(I think this is what you're thinking of, by having more scholarships they'd be ineligible for any championships on the FCS level).

Year 2- they'll be provisionally in the FBS and play a conference schedule but are still not eligible for bowls/championship.
Year 3- they'll be a full FBS members in good standing and eligible for bowls/championships.

Got it, well isn't that up to the conference? I believe when UTSA declared they were leaving for the WAC they were still able to play in the Southland postseason (and since he's a Lamar fan I assume that's what he cares about)...but as far as getting into the NCAA post season if you're top 25 you're in even if you're banned from the conference tourney.

But yes, obviously if they are concerned about missing out on the conference tournament/title then they can wait until its over. Declaring today or on June 30th is all the same according to the NCAA.

Could be Missouri St. Now that the CAA is hurting for members the A-10 will soon be prowling for their members they might be willing to be more amicable with their members who are flirting with FBS. The CAA might be able to hand the football conference over to America East to operate since they also have 4 of the 11 members.

You'd think but look at the NEC who had 8 fb members rejected Monmouth fb only and held Bryant, CCSU hostage(were wanted by the AEC) also Wagner(wanted by the MAAC)

The SBC should quite playing around and just go all out to get to 16! Invites should be sent to Appalachian St., Georgia Southern, Florida A&M for the eastern half and Lamar, Missouri St., and Sam Houston St. for the western half. If they loose Western Kentucky - invite U. Tennessee - C. This keeps it nice and clean with some good programs for all sports and only two for BB only. A nice 16/18 combo!
