Hibbett2222,
Southern Miss has gone 0-24 for the last two years. They are in a seriously hurting position. SBC member Texas State beat Southern Miss in the opening game last year. I don't see CUSA producing any real powers. Rice is the strongest with U. North Texas, U. Texas-S.A., Middle Tennessee St., and Marshall running close behind. Can Western Kentucky be competitive? Maybe... They lost their head coach to Louisville and they are transitioning into a new conference. The problem here is that in grabbing schools - CUSA went for media markets instead of football power schools. Otherwise, CUSA adds App St. and Georgia Southern instead of ODU, and U. North Carolina - C. At this stage, SBC is stronger football wise than CUSA. This gulf will only widen in the next several years as teams like Texas St., Appalachian St., and Georgia Southern begin to produce. Does this mean that ODU, and U. North Carolina - C. suck? No, but the FCS powers of App St. and Georgia Southern are already strong and will only get better, and Texas St. (2012 4-8, 2013 6-6) is already a step or two ahead of ODU and U. North Carolina - C. and will also continue to get better. The only reason that CUSA is ahead of the SBC is income. As soon as the tv exec's figure out that CUSA is not drawing because of losses, and the SBC is producing winning programs - the income level will shift.

I agree with you. C-USA has dropped to the bottom of the Go5 conferences. SI eve wrote about that in their predictions. SI had AAC, MWC, SBC, MAC, then C-USA as the rankings for the Go5 conferences. I not sure that C-USA can move up from the bottom with the schools they have currently. WKU may very well be their best and they lost their coach. C-USA needs Southern Miss and UAB to be strong, but i agree i don't see that happening anytime soon.

This thread needs to be locked. They called this off long ago and the MWC isn't merging with CUSA...and if they did it would be the AAC.

Edit:This thread probably should have previously been locked. Thanks-Freaked

When I added the icon navbar at the top, I had the CUSA and MWC icons goto the Merger thread.

I've now removed that link and replaced it with the individual CUSA and MWC links.
