Here are the final OOC records for the power conferences (conceding Cincy's win over Hawaii):

Big12 38-10 .792
ACC 37-11 .771
SEC 37-11 .771
Big10 32-12 .727
BigEast 29-12 .707
MWC 25-11 .694
PAC10 15-16 .484

This group went 61- 0 vs Div 1AA (or whatever the PCers call it now)

Also interesting, how these 6 conferences did head-to-head against each other:

MWC 9-4
ACC 13-8
Big 12 10-9
Big East 7-7
Big Ten 5-6
SEC 6-10
Pac 10 6-12

MWC has surprising best overall record, partially attributable to most games being against very weak Pac 10, against whom it was 6-1.

ACC a very strong second. Record includes 4-0 vs. Big 12 and 6-4 against SEC. Problem with the ACC is not top to bottom strength, but rather the lack of a headliner program.

Big East a very respectable 7-7, and 9-7 vs. BCS conference teams if you include games against Notre Dame

One correction to Westwolf, San Diego State took a loss to I-AA Cal Poly.

Thanks for the correction, Orangefan. I had in the back of my mind the fact that one of them had lost to a IAA team but didn't find it in my year-end data.

Yes, the ACC was mired in parity but did ok outside the conference.

You have to feel for the Texas fans today.

With one game left in the bowl season, the standings have shuffled a bit based upon the poor bowl showings of the Big Ten and ACC, and strong showing of the SEC and Pac 10. MWC still on top, reinforced by Utah over Bama.

MWC 10-5
Big 12 14-11
ACC 15-14
Big East 9-9
Pac 10 11-12
SEC 10-12
Big Ten 6-12

While some information can be garnered from such listings, data is profoundly impacted when the specific competition is examined. Further, within each conferences, variations can be immense and skewed. To imply OOC records stacked is a comparative measure of conference strength without accounting for the flaws and nuances, suggest what is called in statistics: "error".
