I THINK IT WOULD BE A GOOD GET FOR THE ACC OR BIG TEN TO PICK UP RICE FROM THE SCRAP HEAP, TO GET AN IN ROAD TO TEXAS. A VERY SOLID ACCADEMIC SCHOOL, ALONG WITH A STRONG BASEBALL PROGRAM. FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL NEED A LOT OF WORK BUT THATS A SECONDARY ISSUE: ITS ABOUT MONEY, TV VIEWERS, AND RECRUITING.

If that is the criteria, I vote for Georgetown. Academics, TV market. Poke in the eye to Maryland. Existing rivalries with Syracuse and other oBE members. Great LAX.

I love Rice...but, adding them to the B1G or ACC is ridiculous unless they add other schools near them and rework divisions, which my be too unwieldy.

The ACC is too spread out already...seems unlikely to work. Though, if they wanted to go to 20 schools and split off Miami, FSU, Clemson, and GTech...and add Rice, UofH, SMU, Tulane, LaTech and Memphis. They could have northern and southern divisions that are the size of other conferences. Seems unlikely. Really, if the ACC wanted an AAU member that would fit within their footprint....the University of Buffalo might be the best school to add. ...giving Syracuse a close travel partner.

The only smart moves for Rice would be to aim at the AAC or Big 12. Rice has plenty of money to increase attendance, build more dorms and classrooms, add to existing facilities....they just don't seem too interested in changing their status as a regular member of CUSA. Which is a bit disappointing.
