Re: issues raised here on whether Duke and WF, on their own accord, or from outside pressure, might exit the ACC....

Wouldn't this be suicide for Duke and the effect that this would have on its b'ball program. The ACC is not going to pull a Big East and allow for a different slate of schools in football and b'ball. It would seem to me that Duke would put up with whatever lack of success it had in football to keep itself part of Tobacco Road, and the effect that affiliation has on its national prominence. (a similiar, if weaker, argument could be raised about Wake)

The other question on this whole issue would be UNC. I would think that Carolina would lay over backwards from losing an in-conference rivalry of the quality of UNC-Duke (obviously in relationship to those 2 b'ball games, but also, to a degree, to football.....next door neighbors means the rivalry exists in virtually all sports, like Cal-Stanford).

With the exception of Syracuse the New Big East looked pretty good this weekend.

WVU - so far living up the the hype.
Rutgers - big win could help BE with improved football
Louisville - big win over SEC
UConn - looking good as BE expansion team
Cincinnati - looked good against a Big 10 top 10 team
Pitt/South Florida - wash for NBE - Pitt win benefits 2004

Potential new BE football members in 10 team model

Navy continues to improve from last year and win over ACC should get BE points.

If only Army could show some life with new coach
Memphis see BE 16 team model
