East Carolina fan's twitter: If the ACC takes Rutgers/UConn & the Big12 takes Lville/Cinncy, then we have a shot...
Sad but true, all that's left is ECU, So Miss, Marshall, Tulane, Temple, Rice, Tulsa, and UMass (you're welcome Quinn); can't imagine that they won't be in the next three candidates...
ECU fans are very unique. For 2 decades, they all seem set that the Big East will invite them. I had to point out that the reality of the Big East is now this:
* They have invited Uconn, Cincy, UL, USF, UCF, Houston, SMU, Boise St, SDSU, Navy, and Memphis over ECU...as well as invites that have thus far been turned down such as Air Force recently, and Army over the years. So that's 11 schools accepted over ECU, 13 invited.
* Rutgers is the only original member left in Big East football.
So ECU, CUSA, etc, couldn't pull any moves with a weakened Big East over the years. Instead, they lost 7 members to the big East (8 if you include TCU to MWC to Big East). And then there are Depaul and Marquette, two other CUSA schools invited.
And even with Air Force still out there above ECU, as well as Temple in most peoples minds, ECU STILL thinks the Big East is a potential home for them? WHY BOTHER AT THIS POINT? It's not the Big East ECU fans knew. IT'S CUSA with a new name. There are 7 CUSA members there now and 9 total for basketball. There's no syracuse, no pitt, no BC, no Miami, no Virginia Tech, no WVU and very soon perhaps no Louisville. Sure, this will be a better conference than CUSA at that point, but is it celebrating a Big East invite? Or should it be more like celebrating not being left behind if they did get an invite.
