Of all the Power-5 schools, there 4 that wear black and gold. Recent history has shown all 4 are, for the most part, bottom-dwellers. I hope that sometime in the near future they find their way to the top for the sake of their schools and fanbases! The last 5 seasons for these schools (2010-2014) - record, conference record, bowls:
Colorado Buffaloes: 15-46, 6-38, no bowls
*NOTE: Vanderbilt had 2 anomaly years at 9-4 (conference 5-3,4-4) under James Franklin. Their previous years show those 2 seasons were out of the ordinary.*
Black and gold doesn't seem to be helping anyone. In the Group of 5 and Independents, only Army, Central Florida, Idaho, Appalachian St, and Southern Miss where a combination of black and gold - the latter 2 more of a yellow.
Central Florida has had great seasons including a BCS win but this season is turning into a bust. Idaho is...bad. Army is a team I'd love to rise back up to the level of Navy or even Air Force. Appalachian St just recently moved to FBS. Southern Miss was a very good team until a few years ago.
As the phrase in statistics goes, "correlation doesn't equal causation." I'm having a hard time believing that one right about now...
