Has anyone heard anything new about Northern Colorado, South Dakota State and North Dakota State joining the Big Sky conference? I know that all 3 schools are planning the move up to 1-AA, and that their goal is to join the Big Sky. I haven't heard anything lately on this, though - not sure of the timetable.

Northern Colorado has persued the Big Sky. They are looking at the Mid-Cont. for everything but football. In football, they are an idependant. NDSU & SDSU have one more year in DII play ending in the spring of 2004. The fall of 2004 will be the first of the four year waiting period to be eligible for the I-AA playoffs. There was a meeting on Feb. 24 to discuss the expansion of the conference. It was said that expansion was possible but most likely not to the Dakota schools. However, a week ago there was TV report from a Fargo (NDSU's home) that three of the eight members are in favor of the Dakota expansion. Two members were against it and the other three were not one way or the other. No specific teams were told. It was speculated that Montana, Montana St. and Idaho St. are the three in favor. The two against are most likely the two farthest away from the Dakotas in Sacramento St. and N. Arizona. Weber St., E. Washington, and Porland St. are the ones probably on the fence.

I don't think there was a specific time period ever given as to when a vote was to take place. In this conference, it requires a 2/3rds majority for expanding schools which would be 6 out of the 8.

Obviously you have been reading 'Mad' magazine again. Where did you hear NDSU et al is moving into the Big Sky?

The Big Sky Conference said, "We think you should look elsewhere for a conference."

What don't you understand about, 'NO'?

Sac Attack,

The post you are quoting is almost 9 months old, that is ancient history.
