The Summit had been pricks to North Dakota, while they were dealing with the "Fighting Sioux" name and all those law suits.
That's over with, but there may still be bad blood with Summit's commissioner Tom Douple.
Before North Dakota jumps conferences, they HAVE to have a plan for their football program.
The MVFC is the right place, but they apparently aren't crazy about expanding.
For football, it would be the right place for North Dakota to be in the MVFC, if:
a.) Expand, and lose one or two members in any possible way, such as having some of their top schools moving to the FBS or joining suitable regional conferences (like Eastern Illinois (a former Summit/Mid-Con member school in the early 90s) did when they joined the OVC in 1996, splitting from Western Illinois)
b.) Split both groups within the MVFC by letting both the Summit and the MVC sponsor football as a conference sport:
