Or just Make a conference based on state(s), like a Carolina's Super Conference:

North Division:
===========
Appalachian St (NC)
Western Carolina (NC)
UNCA (NC)
UNCG (NC)
UNCW (NC)
East Carolina (NC)
Elon (NC)
High Point (NC)
Campbell (NC)
NC A&T (NC)

South Division:
===========
Furman (SC)
Wofford (SC)
SC State (SC)
Winthrop (SC)
Coastal Carolina (SC)
Citadel (SC)
College of Charleston (SC)
Charleston Southern (SC)
Gardner-Webb (NC)
Davidson (NC)

And it is all done without encroaching on the SEC or ACC.

You do mean two conferences don't you. Can't imagine 20 schools wanting to fight over one NCAA bid.

I agree with BigE. Man, imagine a conference similiar to the Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation of Division III. I think it's better in 2 seperate conferences named:

a - North Carolina-10 Athletic Conference
b - South Carolina-10 Athletic Conference

I hope you like this predicted idea. I'll post a different one soon once I analyze this season's conferences alignments. Take care, guys.

John

North Carolina Conference-West Division:
Appalachian St
Western Carolina
Davidson
UNCA
Elon
Gardner-Webb

North Carolina Conference-East Division:
East Carolina
UNCW
High Point
UNCG
NC A&T
Campbell

Of course, since ECU is the only I-A school, NC Central (upgrade from Division II) or even (UNC-)Charlotte might be a better fit.

South Carolina Conference:
Furman
Wofford
SC State
Winthrop
Coastal Carolina
The Citadel
College of Charleston
Charleston Southern
Presbyterian (upgrade from Division II)

NOW THAT'S more like it! But what if they add UNCP (NC-Pembroke) in there? There are many possibilities, you know.

Oh, I almost forgot. It might remind me of the American Mideast Conference of the NAIA as well (which has 20 teams, 10 in each division).

How did you jump from NC to Western PA ?

Gees !

St. Vincent has a hell of a football team... (the Pittsburgh Steelers training camp). Seton Hill used to be all girls, I suppose now it's Co-ed.

You mean "Seton Hill was an 'women's sports only institution'. Now it sponsors both men's and women's sports.".

P.S.: Let me say some advice. Try to analyze every single institution in North Carolina and South Carolina and later re-arrange each one by division:

NCAA D-1
NCAA D-2
NCAA D-3
NAIA

Well, I grew up half-way between Greensburg and Latrobe, and Seton Hill (in the 1960s and 1970s, anyway, was a woman's college, I believe). I think WAY BACK WHEN, St. Vincent was a Benedictine Monastery, and Seton Hill was a Convent.

Then both evolved into Catholic colleges for lay-people, and Seton Hill initially admitted only women. Obviously Seton Hill started admitting men at some point, and you're telling me it now has men's sports (?).

I've been out of touch the last 2 decades, so you'll have to cut me some slack if I'm hopelessly out of date.

Update: NC Central has officially announced their move to Division I

NC-Pembroke plays in the Division II Peach Belt Conference, and as far as I know, isn't planning on upgrading.

If we put NCCU in the North Carolina Conference, we could have this group for football:

Appalachian St
Western Carolina
Davidson
Elon
Gardner-Webb
NCCU
NC A&T

Davidson plays non-scholarship football, so that would be an issue there.

But Dave. You said "co-ed". It also means that an institution sponsors both men's and women's sports.
