Personally, I feel that the I-AA playoffs are too small, and they exclude a lot of deserving football teams...I believe they should expand the playoffs from anywhere to 20 to 24 teams...
they can keep 4 regions with 5 or 6 teams in each "region".
with 5 teams, the #1 seed would get get a play-in game winner, and with 6 teams the first two seeds in each region get a play-in game winner...
this would simply add another week to the playoffs...which is not bad, the Championship in 2003 was held on December 19, very close to exam times for many colleges across the country, so the NCAA or the schools can't really complain about class time being missed or anything...
Also, i think they should make sort of a Bowl Game out of it...They could hold the bowl closer to new years, on a day where there aren't any other I-A Bowl Games...and hold it in a very warm climate place(Florida, Mobile, AL, Texas, California) I think this would help the appeal of I-AA football
have 12 automatic bids, and 12 at-large bids...and i think you'd have a more balanced and better I-AA Playoff System...
What are your ideas for I-AA Playoff reform?
