If the Missouri Valley expands again, who should it take? I suggest Western Kentucky and Butler. It is only a matter of time before Western Kentucky joins anyway. Also the two schools would strengthen the league. And with a two division setup help some schools out, scheduling wise.

MVC
Western
Creighton
Drake
Southern Illinois
SMS
UNI
Wichita St

Eastern
Bradley
Butler
Evansville
Illinois State
Indiana State
Western Kentucky

Anybody thoughts? Suggestions?

I believe that Butler left the Missouri Valley in the 1930s...Western Kentucky is deluding itself if it thinks that there is still any reason to be in the Sun Belt Conference and have a I-AA program...

Fans on the Murray State discussion boards have long said that the Racers should try to get into the MVC.

That's hilarious...how overly convenient for a couple of D-I newcomers who made their decision to upgrade in absence of any assurances by an already "established" (I use the term loosely) conference such as the Mid-Con...

That being said, at least their respective states are near the Missouri River...they should maybe change the name to "Mississippi Valley Conference" and let the Big XII return to using the "Missouri Valley" moniker...

Not exactly "Missouri" valley, but how about Akron and E. Michigan when they drop football. They'd be great markets and recruiting areas.

In the future, the 2 Dakota schools would be good for the Missouri Valley, especially since they have football. At present they should try to get in the Mid-Con, dominate it then move on.

Murray State seems good till it competes with MVC schools. Western Kentucky and Butler are the best choices right now. Add them and they move on up especially with C-USA & WAC getting raided and later with the possibly A-10 and new BB conference with BE schools, MVC has a chance to move up in the pecking order. Eventually could easily be the 7th best conference.

The MVC is the second best conference in the NCAA for basketball, that does not have 1-a football.

Virtually any school from a mid-major would jump at the chance to join the MVC. Had St. Louis not been recruited so hard formt he A10, they would have wound up there.

That said, and no disrespect to the Dakota shcools, but none have schown that they are worthy of the MVC yet. In time, maybe.

WKU tops the list of potentials. Butler isn't far behind. If WKU stayed in the Sunbelt, Detroit might be another solid choice.

MVC is better than the WCC. All they have is Gonzaga.

Precisely. The A10 has sent more at-large teams to the tournament the past 10 years than any other non-BCS conference.

But you said conferences that didn't have football.
