It looks like another single-sport conference may be headed to the recycle bin:

http://www.longwoodlancers.com/news/201 ... th=fhockey

This leaves the NorPac with 7 members for 2014:

Liberty (VA)
Radford (VA)
Appalachian State (NC)
California
Stanford (CA)
Pacific (CA)
UC Davis

The NorPac is also losing Davidson to the Atlantic 10. My hunch is that the other 3 eastern schools run for the CAA and/or MAC to avoid 2 regular season matches in California each season. The irony is that if JMU ha joined the Sun Belt, their field hockey program would be in the NorPac, which would allow for reinstating two four-team divisions.

If two more Pac 12 schools can start programs, that would at least open up the Pac 12 sponsoring Field Hockey with affiliate members. Even just 2 new programs west of Minneapolis would allow the MPSF to sponsor the league.

Radford dropped their program; which means your 2014 alignment is:

West: Stanford, Cal, UC Davis
East: App State, Liberty and Pacific!

the dividing line geographically for divisions is in California, roughly along the Calivaras Fault Line!

With only six members, the NorPac should revert to a single round-robin like every other conference. At least there are viable pairings for travel partners.
