With all the realignment going on and being discussed, how about creating a new conference of Mid West and Western private schools all of which have had a tradition of winning in Men’s BB but are always playing larger state schools. This new league would be composed of private schools without football or at least without schlorships for football but strong basketball programs and strong programs in some of the minor sports like soccer. Even the schools that did not have winning seasons this year like Bradley, Butler, Detroit. Drake and Valparaio all have had strong Mens BB programs over the last 10 years. This conference would probably be able to get at least 2 or 3 teams a year in the NCCA tournament. Here are 13 candidates for a league that could have from 9 – 12 members.
Pacific (Big West) 27-4
Creighton (MVC) 23-11
Denver (SBC) 20-11
Dayton(A10) 18-11
Valparaiso (Mid Con) 15-16
Detroit (Hor) 14-16
Drake (MVC) 13-16
Bradley (MVC) 13-15
Butler (Hor) 13- 15
Loyola/Chi (Hor) 13-17
Evansville (MVC) 11-17
St. Louis (CUSA/A10) 9-21
