Unless if UCA drops football, they won't have much choice about moving to I-AA.

Now that Central Arkansas is a member of the Southland Conference (effective July 1, 2006), will the conference have a division alignment format?

Only 8 football teams, so no need for divisions there.

However, one would expect divisions for sports in which all 12 teams participate:

I'm guessing:

West - 6 Texas teams

East - 1 Texas team, 4 La teams, Central Ark.


I have not studied the geography, which is the eastern-most Texas team in the Southland ?

Dave, try checking the "Membership Map" at the Southland Conference's website and try to "idealize" a little. WARNING: Don't mind Louisiana-Monroe (now in 2K6-2K7 the Indians will be heading to the Sun Belt Conference) and here is my predicted alignment:

Southland Conference - East Division:

*Northwestern State (La.)
*Southeastern Louisiana (La.)
*Nicholls State (La.)
*McNeese State (La.)
*Central Arkansas
Lamar

Southland Conference - West Division:

Texas-Arlington
Texas-San Antonio
*Texas State-San Marcos
*Sam Houston State
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi
*Stephen F. Austin State
Texas-Pan American (if possible in the future)
