This is just great !

All the mid-major conferences will cause tremendous upheaval, expanding to 11 and wrecking each others rivalries.
And then the selection committee will STILL give all the at-large bids to P5 + AAC + A10.
So all this messing around will be for naught.

Maybe the sooner the P5 consolidates to the P4 and break away to have their own semi-pro league, the better....

This is the pursuit of the 11th team, which is going to make the NCAA selection committee suddenly want to give more at-larges to the mid-major conferences...
(sarcasm...)

A huge waste of their time.... Plus it will create an odd number of teams for other sports, necessitating BYEs.

20 conference games is a bad way to try and have a decent RPI.

If a dozen or so non-BCS conferences were smart, instead of trying to match the BCS by growing, they'd work together to have SMALLER leagues that played the same number of conference games so they'd have opponents to play.

Because MVC and Summit are joined at the hip (MVFC), this needs to be coordinated, if a new MVC member WITH A FB TEAM is to be brought in. There is room for a 12th member in the MVFC, 13 would be awkward.
What about Murray State / Youngstown State ? (YSU already in the MVFC...)
MVFC needs to split into east and west divisions to reduce travel from eastern members to Dakotas.

OVC would probably re-stock with a D-2 football school in the Tennessee / northern Bama / northern or western Georgia area.

Hope they do not go after Wisc. school. Too far away. If they do grab someone from Horizon, this might be opening for IPFW to move to Horizon....

I just don't understand why Murray State feels like they shall be the next outright candidate school to be in the MVC expansion list. I get the part of talent & RPI & marketing. But if they want to be eligible so badly, bring a travel partner like Morehead State (the school's only known rival since the OVC's origins), along with Belmont. That way the MVC would expand a bit more east in a regional geographic standpoint; instead of expanding north (gunning for a school above the state of Illinois, like one from the state of Wisconsin) would be too much (unless if it's one from the state of Iowa).

Murray State was a serious candidate (got a campus visit) last time, after Wichita State left.
So at the VERY LEAST they should get a serious look this go-round...

If MVC goes to 12, the conference (NOT Murray State or other invitee #11) will decide who to invite.
But, yeah, setting up logical travel partners makes things easier on everybody.

MVC's conference tourney "Arch Madness" starts tomorrow here in St. Louis.

Anybody got anything on further discussions relating to expansion to 11 ? 12?
