There have been ample discussions about the Patriot League and they're potential interest over the months in expanding. At the same time, there have been rumblings in the A10 that the league should be giving fordham the push out the door (lack of any success since joining, no facility upgrades, etc).

I'm curious if the recent Hofstra Exploring A Departure From the CAA could be tied in with Fordham somehow.

Fordham wants out of the Patriot for football if they don't change their policy on scholarships. But what if the Patriot met them halfway and said "we'll allow some scholarships for football if you bring all your sports to the A10".

This would create the opening that Hofstra would need to join the A10.

If just seems odd that Hofstra desire for the A10 talk would ever start if there weren't some potential opening. Perhaps it's just Hofstra preparing for an Xavier/Big East basketball scenario.

who knows...

Personally, I think Fordham football may join the CAA. With Northeastern ironically discontinuing football (they were the school that allowed the CAA to sponsor football to begin with) - thus leaving Harvard as the only FCS/1-AA football program in Boston - this opens up a spot for the Rams.
