Will Campbell University be announcing they are leaving the Pioneer Football League for the Big South? That would give the Big South 5 full members playing football and 2 associate members. http://gocamels.com/sports/fball/2016-1 ... 1110qkof0m

YES INDEED !

Campbell football to move to Big South (regular FCS) starting in 2018.

http://www.wbtv.com/story/33705777/big- ... conference

That will take the Big South Football to 7 members (5 from Big South, 1 affiliate from the A-Sun (Kennesaw State), and 1 affiliate from the MAAC (Monmouth).

They might still be prodding Stetson and Jacksonville (both A-Sun / non-scholly Pioneer Football League) to upgrade, too !

Assuming that Liberty can no longer compete in the FCS, that means 5 Big South football schools in 2017, then 7 in 2018 (4 Big South full members, 2 A-Sun members, and 1 MAAC affiliate).
UNA won't be eligible for a post season bid for a few years, so the next few years are going to be dicey for the Big South.

I'm curious about Liberty's other sports. Would the Big South let Liberty to keep their sports in the conference? I also wonder if this is the reason why NMSU hasn't moved or looked at another conference.

The Big South has other schools that do not have ANY football team, so I don't see a real argument to reject Liberty's choice to go FBS in football, but remain for their other sports.

They can't be happy to lose a member of the Big South [FCS] Football Conference, but the Big South is NOT an all-sports conference.
