One year ago, the governing bodies of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association voted to retain the conference membership at 12 schools, the current number with the addition of Lincoln becoming official last week.
Circumstances involving other conference affiliations may alter that decision, with two to four schools under consideration to join the MIAA. Central Oklahoma, Northeastern (Okla.) State, Nebraska-Kearney and Lindenwood, Mo., have expressed interest in applying for membership.
"It's a different landscape than it was a year ago," MIAA commissioner Jim Johnson said Tuesday. "After that vote was taken (July 2009) to stay at 12, there were some schools in our Midwest competition region that expressed some interest that had not expressed interest previous to that.

Thanks, Freaked.

Just when I was getting excited that something might ACTUALLY happen, I find the D-2 Membership Committee Meeting in Indianapolis is a 3-Day affair (Wed 7/7 thru Fri 7/9).
So the press release of their findings will likely be forthcoming no earlier than tomorrow afternoon, but probably early next week, as the West Virginia article surmised......

Provisional D-2 status was reportedly granted to Dominican University.Link at http://www.marinij.com/sports/ci_15483371

UAFS was reportedly DENIED full D-2 status pending appeal. Link at http://www.thecitywire.com/?q=node/10681

Urbana was reportedly approved for full D-2 status.Link at http://www.springfieldnewssun.com/sprin ... 05172.html

UIS was reportedly approved for full D-2 status.Link at http://www.sj-r.com/sports/x1876489031/ ... -II-status

There should be more membership reports in the coming days.

I know that FSA has previously mentioned in another thread on this board some of the schools that have apparently been accepted by NCAA D-2 this year however, here is CollegeFanz site reporting that McKendree and Malone are apparently the first two schools to report that their NCAA D-2 applications have been accepted.

Releases from Walsh,Ursuline, and Cal Baptist confirming earlier report in another thread by FSA that they had all been accepted for NCAA D-2 membership.
Links at http://www.walsh.edu/news.php?newsid=875

at http://www.calbaptist.edu/news/ncaa_dii ... ocess.aspx

and at http://www.ursuline.edu/Athletics/News/ ... roved.html

That will account for 8 of the 12 NCAA D-2 applicants.

Of the other 4, FSA believes that WVUTech and CS San marcos were turned down and the status of Trevecca Nazarene and Young Harris are currently unknown.

We should have the official NCAA D-2 list later this week.

Thanks
Freaked

Freaked, don't you think we should combine this thread with the D-II/NAIA/D-III thread on the other section? It's like we have to repeat ourselves.

I agree, let's merge. I get excited when there are 2 new posts only to find out it's only one piece of info.
