It wouldn't surprise me if this merges with the Great West, and the Big Sky and America East members become affiliates, although South Dakota (and presumably North Dakota) will be joining the Summit in 2011. Here is the full lineup:

Binghamton
Chicago State
Hartford
Houston Baptist
North Dakota
Northern Colorado
Sacramento State
South Dakota
UTPA
Utah Valley

I completely agree. Although, perhaps rather than a merger, maybe the Great West just announces that is will begin sponsoring golf, and the teams will move over.

Perhaps the only driver (pun intended :D ) for the American Sky to maintain a separate office, is if the affiliate members are queasy about the long term stability of the Great West (which consists entirely of schools that all wish they were somewhere else).

Of course, "America Sky" would be a more fitting name than "Great West" for a conference that currently has members in New Jersey, Illinois, New York, and South Carolina.

Eventually, it won't matter, since the all-sports conference is doomed to go under in a few years due to major travel issues.

Five America Sky schools are members of the Big Sky, and Idaho will give them six come July 2014. The WAC will get CSUB, UTPA, UVU, and Chicago State. Where will Binghamton and Hartford go?
