Well today is an exciting day for the Catholic 7...or should I say the Big East. I couldn't be happier with the group of schools they picked and I think staggering the departure dates was brilliant. I am guessing that Notre Dame will be begging the ACC for an early departure. The Irish are going to have to part with some money whether they spend a year in the Big East/Catholic 7 or the ACC.

Sure the Big East didn't get their tidy East and West divisions but I think the end product is still terrific and in the long run it will probably be for the best because the conference will have greater flexibility and can create parity among the schedules, something that a rigid division structure won't allow. We'll still see two 'Nova/Georgetown games and two Xavier/Dayton, St Louis/Creighton, Marquette/DePaul so I think all is well.

As soon as the name situation is finalized, this thread will be renamed "Big East (Catholic 7)" and the original Big East thread will be renamed "Former Big East" or whatever name they pick...I'd like to assume they already have one, but this is the BE we're talking about.

Weiss left out Cincinnati among the list of BE schools; just missed that in proofing?

If both Tulsa & UMass were added to the fb group, that would be an odd number of schools if no school leaves.

You think those are big paydays, if there is any truth to the ACC losing 10 schools like some have suggested, Wake Forest is gonna be rolling in the dough

The more I think about it the less I think any ACC schools go to the Big XII. Big XII only gets ACC schools if 6 ACC teams got to B1G and SEC with FSU being 1 of those 6.

If UVa and GT go B1g, UNC and Duke go SEC then I think the ACC holds.

ACC South- FSU, Clemson, Miami, NC State, Wake, VT. (as good of a division as any outside the SEC West)

ACC North- BC, Syracuse, Pitt, Louisville, CINCY and either TEMPLE or UCONN

Now if FSU leaves then I think you may end up with 4 from the ACC in the Big XII (Miami, Clemson, NCSU and Louisville).

I don't think you will ever see FSU in the Big XII.
