Amazingly, Maryland seems closer to BC than FSU is to Miami on that map. Maybe it's not that far of a stretch after all. Of course there's alot more air/road traffic and conjestion from Baltimore<->Boston than there is Tallahasse<->Miami.

BYUFan227, I did a sanity check on this after I saw your post. Using one of the zip code / mileage programs on the Web (e.g., http://www.qlinkcorp.com/mileageForm.cfm) and plugging in the zip codes for the pairs of schools in questions, this is what I came up with:

Maryland (20742) to BC (02467): 380
FSU (32306) to Miami (33124): 407

BTW, these maps use a Microsoft blank template of the states of the USA, with the schools' locations plotted on them by eye / hand, and then are resized for the individual conferences. There is no claim that these maps are any more than a best effort approximation of locations and distances.

I noticed that I had a few discrepancies on the "Announced Conference Alignments for the 2005 Season" map, as it didn't match a couple of the individual 2005 conference maps. So here it is again:

Washington State is about 1/4 the north-south span of the state (~40 miles) from the south border of the state. You have it about halfway up -- close to where Spokane is. Moscow is pretty much level with Pullman latitude wise.

I know you weren't going for exactness, but these seemed off by a good distance.

BYUFan227, Thanks for the feedback. I have updated Washington State and Idaho on the following maps.

im not sure this is the best topic to post this link, but the conference realignment picture is kind of geographic in nature.

I can't really read that, but West Virginia in the Big 10 would most likely never happen. Unless WVU became a 2nd Tier University and/or an AAU school.

Also, your Big East alignment looks like a bunch of MAC schools. I think a couple could fit if their attendance would improve, but that BE 12-team alignment is not realistic.

Although the dot is correct, you show Maryland in Big East (green) text. Please don't do that to us.
