With the recent overall site hiccups, I was prepared to move CollegeSportsInfo.com to a new server. I even went as far as putting in the order with a new company with better bandwidth at a better rate. But I had to cancel the order, despite it being more financially beneficial. As I'm not a tech person, I feared that if I moved to a new server, I might have issues migrating the forums. The rest of the site wouldn't be a problem. But my lack of SQL and PHP skills meant I had to just keep it on the Netfirms server.

So that said, I had to just upgrade the account to a higher cost package. It's not what I wanted to do, since I could have moved the site to a rival company server at 1/3 the price.

So the issues with the site should be resolved shortly.

But you can still help:

This is a niche site, but not one that I would ever charge users for like Rivals and others do with their premium boards. We have the best posters in the world here as you get the topic, understand the nuances of conference realignment, and make this a great "college sports business" forum.

But you can still help in other ways that won't cost you anything.

Spreading the word about CollegeSportsInfo.com can actually help us make enough money to cover the operating costs.

A few easy ways:
1) Add the CSI userbar (see my sig below) to all your other message board sigs. If they don't allow images, just make a text URL.

2) Join the Facebook group at http://collegesportsinfo.com/facebook and share links in your profile by "liking" a post.

3) Follow on Twitter and retweet posts

4) Have a website of your own? Please find a place somewhere to add a link to CollegeSportsInfo.com. You can grab the code at http://collegesportsinfo.com/linktous/

A quick update:

So even with the upgrade, I still noticed some problems with the site speed. So I spoke with the hosting company and they said I hadn't upgraded enough and needed to go to an even bigger plan. The timing was tough since I was moving and I don't have a wealth of programming skills to easily handle a seamless migration to another web hosting provider.

Long story short, we've been upgraded to an even high level of service than the previous post indicates.

To compensate, I swapped some code on the site. The template had some Google adsense code from the original site template designer. The code asks to leave that Google ad code if you can, but no harm if it's removed. So I just swapped it out with the Google ad code from the other CSI pages (outside the forum).

The banner will ONLY appear on the first post of a page.

I'm hoping that over the span of a year, we might get enough impressions from that 1 ad placement that it might pay for part of the server costs. It beats a donation link...
