I still think its a long shot, but there seems to be a bit of effort being made by San Antonio officials to lure a team there. I heard on the radio the other day the Raiders would be free to leave Oakland after this season. I'm not sure how accurate that is, or what all approvals the other NFL owners would have to give for a franchise moving to another market.

There's also issues in Buffalo, San Diego, and St Louis - and Jacksonville (or is it London?)

Could San Antonio actually get an NFL team before LA gets one again?

San Antonio would have to build a stadium, right? The Alamodome could be an NFL team's home for a couple of years as a new stadium is built but that can't be a permanent home for an NFL team.

They have been proposing a $100M upgrade to the Alamodome to serve as a temp home, then building a new stadium within 5-10 years.

It would be quite astonishing to have them do both the upgrade and a new stadium though.

They are, but it's nowhere near that simple. The A's and Alameda County just signed a new 10-year lease with more out-clauses than what a small-town furniture owner includes in the small print of a living room sale. The Raiders ideal...

...is NOT Los Angeles. The NFL doesn't want Mark Davis owning an LA team, so much so that it's practically wink/nudging Stan Kroenke to move the Rams back. Kroenke would probably go. What St. Louis does next... eh?

The city proposed Coliseum City- multiple stadiums and commercial development. The Warriors already begged out and bought land south of the Giants' ballpark. They're moving back to San Francisco. The Raiders and A's... they don't want to share with each other. Here comes the war. Is it already won by one party? Probably not, because of all the out-clauses in the lease with the A's. So I don't think anything will happen this next offseason, but this is an active situation with the strong possibility that one major league franchise will end up moving.
