Does anybody out there think that if BOTH the Big XII and the PAC-12 get left out of the CFP this year,
there will be a huge drum-beat to expand the CFP to 8 teams ?

Right now the CFP consists of 6 bowls + the NCG.
This could easily be rearranged to have the 6 bowls become 4 quarter-finals + 2 semi-finals.

The current CFP arrangement is projected to run for 12 years.
However, the first "rotation" of the bowls lasts only 6 years, and then repeats.
It should be possible to switch to an 8-team format after 6 years (3 years from now..)

I think the committee can defend that they picked the top 4 teams, being they all had 1 loss or less.

Ohio State, though not the division or conference championship, lost the only game that kept them from achieving both, when they had the lead AT PSU and had a FG blocked.

But it looks bad, and again the Big XII was left out. The fix is an 8-team bracket with auto-bids for the P5 conference champs, and 3 at-large. Team #9 is going to be a non-champ, likely with multiple losses and seemingly no real claim to potentially being the worthy National Champion. I think to guarantee an auto-bid to each P5 league, they each need to have a minimum 14 teams.
