This week's official BCS poll will be released later.

Here is this week's USAToday Coaches poll at http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/usatpoll.htm

Looks like there are 5 non-BCS conference schools including 3 from the MWC ranked ahead of any ACC or BE school.

Freaked, I can't believe your optimism.

The system is designed to be rigged. It shall continue to be so.

Pounder,thanks for the reply.
I continue to believe that IF the top MWC/WAC schools continue to win they will eventually obtain a BCS autobid.

Perhaps I am a little optimistic but probably more realistic because although the BCS system is surely flawed it is also very very maleable.
Also, notice I have qualified my repeated statement with "IF".

It should be interesting to see" if" the top MWC/WAC schools can win in the future or is 2008 a remake of the "Perfect Storm",as in some type of aberration?

Time will tell, because it always does.

Thanks
FREAKED

Boise State has two games coming up that needs to be looked at closely. Fresno State and UNR.

Fresno State beat Rutgers and UCLA. They lost to Wisconsin by 3, and lost to Hawaii and La. Tech. Hawaii beat UNR. UNR also beat a UNLV team out of the Mountain West. UNLV beat both Arizona State and Iowa State. Boise State also beat one team that people forgot the conference. Bowling Green out of the MAC. Bowling Green defeated Pittsburgh.

Transitive property arguments tend not to hold water- here's an example.

Transitive property argument:

USC lost to Oregon State
Oregon State lost to Stanford
Stanford lost to Arizona State
Arizona State lost to UNLV
UNLV lost to San Diego State
San Diego State lost to Cal Poly
Cal Poly lost to Montana
Montana lost to Weber State
Weber State lost to Eastern Washington
Eastern Washington lost to Sacramento State
Sacramento State lost to Idaho State

Idaho State finished their season 1-11!!!

Idaho State for #5 in the country!!! Can anyone figure out any more of these that happened this year?

The final official BCS poll will be released later.
The BCS pairings show is scheduled for 8pm ET tonight on Fox.

Here is final regular season USAToday coaches poll at http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/usatpoll.htm

The top two ranked squads are Florida and Oklahoma.

The MWC ends up with 3 schools ranked in the top 16.

OK Freaked, I shall start. I've seen the BCS placements. The placements look generally fine, but not without controversy. I don't mean the Texas-Oklahoma fuss; but an at-large selection with two losses already to two other BCS picks.

Ohio State landed a spot.

Boise State did not.

In my judgment, Boise State deserved a spot, but their match-up with TCU in San Diego perhaps will be a fine game. Unfortunately, it's not one of the higher profile bowls.

Thanks, Freaked.

BCS bowls still have that flexibility to pick within parameters. Of course, that means that big names, from big conferences, with lobbying power, from big states, with big and powerful alumni, who are sports media darlings will nearly always trump one, though slightly higher with a better record, if the policy allows.

If head-to-head, would Ohio State defeat Boise State this year on a neutral field? Maybe. But that's not the critical point, and shall not be proven.

If Florida or Oklahoma were facing USC, would either or both be favored by betting pundits against the Trojans? Not so sure.

They want the lucrative bowls and protect the interests of certain conferences with their high profile schools. Then they want to crown a national championship without a payoff. With half the BCS conferences not even having a championship game, the BCS is riddled with inconsistency which impacts bowl placements. We understand it because we keep up with it. Those that don't, often just accept it as objective methodology.

Frankly, the old system whereby bowls largely took who they wanted, or who they could get, and championships were all about polling; is not a whole lot less in merit than the current pretense of what they try to sell as a more fair system. It's about having the cake and eating it too.
