MWC official said the conference is not adding a member (Boise State) unless it assures the conference an auto BCS bid. That is a deflective stance based on a near impossible scenario. The other BCS conferences and Notre Dame are not going to say to the MWC, "if you add Boise State as your 10th school, we will make you one of the conferences with an auto-bid, the same as us".
While it is a potential such could be the result, assuming established BCS conferences would be in the business of selecting new members for conferences seeking to be their peers, and before a vague promise is fulfilled, seems quiet difficult to comprehend.
The MWC is trying to use the Boise State ambition to somehow influence the BCS decision-making; knowing such will not work as a prerequisite.

SEC03,thanks for the response.First,I believe that the key comments from the above article are the comments concerning the MWC trying to obtain the 7th BCS autobid within the current BCS rules.I still believe that future MWC expansion to obtain a BCS autobid would be somewhere in a "plan B" which would also likely include legal and political pressure.A detailed discussion of this angle of the topic can probably better be accomplished in the MWC realignment section in this board.
If they can continue to win on the field the MWC should/can obtain and maintain the 6th BCS rankings slot and they "probably" would not need a plan B to obtain the 7th BCS Autobid position.
However, given the vagaries of the BCS system I can see where the MWC Presidents would want to meet with BCS officials to gauge what the realistic options for obtaining the prized BCS autobid slot are.Again, any future option dealing with possible future expansion will probably be best discussed in the MWC realignment section in this board.

Again, the "main point" here is that the MWC "THINKS" that the current BCS autobid data and formulas place them in the "#6 hole" for 2008 with three years to go.I would like to see this official BCS autobid information released to the public so WE can better discuss it on this board.

Thanks
Freaked

Perhaps Freaked, you may want to change the title of this thread to incorporate the term NEWS. The second above, specifies that.

USAToday reporting that MWC has hired a lobbyist to press for changes in the BCS.MWC Commish is meeting with Congressional staff this week regarding this matter.Looks like MWC may have shifted to "plan B".Doesn't look like they want to wait until 2013 for a BCS autobid.Link at http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/ ... tbcs_N.htm

Also,Dennis Dodd piece(previously posted on another thread)weighing in on the MWC "plan B" to get more access to the BCS. Link at http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/story/11404141
