Can't believe I've got one, considering how few movies I watch...

Pacific Tech (Real Genius)

Tech probably has a Princeton-style offense, but that's probably true of half the field mentioned above.

I think on Rocky & Bullwinkle, the big rivalry game was

Wossamatta U. vs. Pottawatamee U. (affectionately known as P.U.)

I think I can envision Bullwinkle sitting in the stands with a P.U. pennant, wearing a hat and a raccoon-skin coat (which looked very much like his own fur).

- Saved by the Bell had "Stansbury" (i think that was the spelling) at the college day. It was dubbed the "Harvard of the West" by one of the characters. There were no episodes actually set to the school, but it played a big part in the lone episode it was in. Likely a play on Stanford.

- Doc Brown from "Back to the Future" was supposedly a professor at Hill Valley University according to a few early scripts, though this is never said in the movies.

- There was a school in the movie "Tommy Boy" (where Tommy Calahan takes 7 years to graduate), but I forgot the name.

- "Tiny Toon Adventures" had the Looniversity with the WB cartoon characters as professors.

Here is another list of fictional schools:

List of fictional schools (colleges are about half way down the page)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fictional_schools

I think this school has a real shot in this tournament:
Globetrotter University, Globetrotter homeworld - Futurama

I also like a couple of the professional schools as 12 seeds:
Krusty's Clown College - The Simpsons
Springfield Barber College - The Simpsons

I saw Ithaca University on the list.

Didn't Gene Hackman's Norman Dale in Hoosiers once coach- and have a punch-up- at Ithaca College? Ithaca College is real. Or is there another name I'm forgetting?

I know some wartime units have played in bowl games before, so I'm thinking that the 4077th's team (M*A*S*H) could be worked into a basketball frame, no?

A few months back, I couldn't sleep, so I watched "Drum Line" on cable. Not great, but I've seen movies that are a lot worse.

Anyway the protagonists were from a college know as
A A&T (doing a web search, I could not find a real college known as either Alabama A&T or Atlanta A&T, only North Carolina Agricultural and Technical)....

The antagonists were from MBC (Morris Bown College, I believe, which I think has been discussed here as a real HBCU).

Does HBCU stand for "historically black college / university" ? I'm not so familiar with the term....

Tigersharktwo would be interested in knowing that Larry McMurtry, who did the screenplay for Brokeback Mountain and is a Golden Globe winner, is an alumnus of the University of North Texas.

To show the depths of Lashette's knowledge, may I add to the list:

HAYLE
GRAINBELT

from 50s' TV sitcom Dobie Gillis

The fabulous Lashette!

Here is a description of the 1953 classic, Affairs of Dobie Gillis, that included actress Debbie Reynolds. Grainbelt University is the setting.
Hayle, by the way, was one of the banners (a mixture of real & fake college names) on the wall in one of the dance scenes.
