Jones' paperwork completed, next stop FIFA
Image
The U.S. Soccer Federation has received all the necessary paperwork from the German Football Federation, and from Jermaine Jones, for Jones' application for a switch to the U.S. national team to be processed by FIFA, sources told SBI this weekend.

There had been a delay in the securing of the necessary documents, but with the USSF finally receiving all the necessary paperwork to submit the application, the clock now starts ticking on Jones' switch to the U.S. team. With FIFA processing applications for federation changes on a monthly basis, Jones should become eligible to play for the United States within a month, assuming his application is approved.

Dempsey was hurt in his last club game with Fulham - I expect to see Stuart in his place (IMHO - no biggie)

Hejduk added to U.S. roster for qualifiers

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Columbus Crew defender Frankie Hejduk has been added to the United States roster for World Cup qualifiers against Honduras and Costa Rica.

The 35-year-old scored the final goal in a 2-2 tie at El Salvador in qualifying on March 28. He was on the U.S. roster for 1998 and 2002 World Cups, then was picked for the 2006 roster before missing the tournament due to a torn knee ligament.

The Kansas City Wizards will play host to the United States Under-17 Men’s National Team at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the team’s Swope Park Training Center. The match is open to the public free of charge.

The contest will serve as a tuneup for the U.S. team prior to the upcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup in Nigeria. The U.S. squad begins the tournament October 26 against Spain. The USA is in a group with Spain, Malawi and the United Arab Emirates in the 24-team competition

U.S. Soccer announced today that the USMNT will travel to Denmark to play a friendly against the World Cup qualifiers on Wednesday, November 18.

This is great news. With World Cup 2010 looming next, it's a welcome sight to see the USMNT taking to the road to prepare for South Africa.

Charlie Davies, a striker for the United States national soccer team, was involved in a one-car accident early Tuesday in suburban Washington, D.C., in which another person was killed, a U.S. Soccer Federation spokesman said.

Davies was in surgery Tuesday afternoon at Washington Hospital Center and in stable condition, U.S. Soccer said in a statement. The extent of his injuries were unknown, but U.S. Soccer spokesman Neil Buethe said they were not life-threatening.
