Galaxy II Romp Past Dutch Lions
Jamieson IV, McBean each score twice in 5-1 victory

Sunday, June 8, 2014

CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy II’s goal rush in the first half helped Los Dos extend their winning streak to two games with a 5-1 victory against the Dayton Dutch Lions on Sunday night at StubHub Center. Jack McBean and Bradford Jamieson IV both scored a brace while Charlie Rugg added a goal before halftime.

The Dutch Lions almost broke the stalemate in the seventh minute as Cameron Vickers found the head of Sebastien Thuriere, who nodded the ball inches above the crossbar. A minute later, Los Dos made Dayton pay as Rugg sprinted down the right side and fired a cross that Jamieson IV side-footed into the back of the net.

St. Louis FC News Release -- http://www.stlouisuslpro.com

Wednesday, June 4, 2014

ST. LOUIS -- Saint Louis Football Club has been unveiled as the newest member of USL PRO, beginning play in 2015. The franchise, which was originally announced in early May, revealed its official team name Monday before launching a fan vote for the team’s new logo Wednesday.

“We believe Saint Louis FC will embody all that is great about soccer in this community,” Saint Louis FC President Jim Kavanaugh said. “With a long history of contributing to the game in the United States, we felt simplicity was key. We wanted a name that all of St. Louis could connect with.”

Both logos featured in the fan vote set out to achieve a connection to St. Louis and the city’s rich history.

Louisville City FC unveils 'abstract' new logo
Image

With more than 100 logo design entries to choose from, the Louisville City Football Club on Sunday unveiled a new crest featuring purple and gold colors with an abstract take on the city's skyline.

Team owner Wayne Estopinal made the announcement for his minor league club, which starts play in 2015 at Louisville Slugger Field, during the U.S.-Portugal watch party at Fourth Street Live.

"I'm sure we're not going to please everybody, but I think the key to this was, we got the community engaged," Estopinal said. "We got many, many entries from professional designers down to an 8-year-old. Clearly, everybody put a great deal of time into these things. They looked great."

Some notes in the wake of the Vancouver announcement:

- One of the main newspaper's blogs basically states that the Whitecaps will shut down their PDL team in conjunction with this.

- Seattle's incoming USL PRO team is apparently headed for Starfire Sports Complex... um, surprising news there.

- While Portland hasn't made an official announcement yet, Merritt Paulson tweets like he's already made the announcement. Where the Timbers II plays is a more intriguing question. Paulson mentioned Portland or Salem a couple weeks ago... meanwhile, Eugene is most certainly targeting USL PRO now. I thought the Timbers would partner with Eugene as old Civic Stadium (the Eugene one, not the Portland one) appears to be geared for renovation and retool for soccer. It's possible now that there will be two Oregon-based USL PRO teams in the next couple years.

BTW, I'm at least somewhat certain that the Portland and Seattle U-23 teams will cease to exist with this development for the same reasons Vancouver will apparently do it.

....so is the Oregon "news" all unofficial or is there a link talking about Timbers II and Eugene

Real Salt Lake willing to pay the price for minor-league stadium
Tab estimated at $13 million to build a 5,000-8,000 seat facility at Fairpark.

Image

In Real Salt Lake’s bid to build a minor-league soccer stadium at the Utah State Fairpark, the franchise has offered to pay the full price of the project.

The stadium, which would hold between 5,000 and 8,000 people, is expected to cost between $12 million and $13 million, said Trey Fitz-Gerald, RSL’s vice president of communications. And it’s a bill the franchise is willing to foot alone, forgoing the possibility of using some public funds.

While details have yet to be worked out, the deal would likely give RSL control over the stadium and its scheduling, allowing the franchise to operate a United Soccer League franchise there as a minor-league training tool.
