Note the Big Ten raid on the ACC.

Non-football moves of note:

The 8 Big East basketball schools stick together and add Detroit Mercy.

Oakland replaces Detroit Mercy in the Horizon League.

The MVC adds Saint Louis from the Atlantic 12 (formerly the Atlantic 10).

USA, UALR, New Orleans, and Denver join new members SIU-Edwardsville, North Dakota, and South Dakota in The Summit League, which divides into four quadrangles.

16 teams is anathema for a football conference. It would take years to play all the other teams in the conference. 9, 10 (with 9 conference games) or 12, nothing else.
