Bearcat -

I'm a Pitt fan, but should Cincy win, I hope they run the table and serve as a strong representative for the Big East.
Hanging over the whole program is a cloud, though....
What's going to happen with Kelly and the Notre Dame situation ?
He's obviously in the mix, and hasn't publicly taken his name out of consideration.
His comment Saturday to Bob Griese is cryptic "It should all be settled in the next 7 days or so..."
You could take that to mean that he's a candidate, and will be told if he's the WINNING candidate in that time frame, OR
You could take that to mean that he's happy at Cincinnati, and was simply told by the Notre Dame A.D. that a decision will be announced and the rumors about Kelly will go away.... we shall see.

I hope he stays... He can be as successful (but not as rich) by staying at Cincinnati.

Pitt also had this crap pulled on them, when their program was at it's height. Back in 1982, Pitt was coming off three consecutive 11-1 seasons, and was everybody's pre-season #1. Dan Marino (a senior in 1982) was THE Heismann candidate... everything was looking good, when Jackie Sherrill abruptly announced his departure for Texas A&M.
Pitt went 9-3 under Foge Fazio, who was a good defensive coordinator, but not prepared to serve as head coach.
So Sherill destroyed his legacy and P.O.'ed the city of Pittsburgh for a few more $$$$.

U of Cincinnati is trying to do everything in their power to keep him happy. Hopefully he has some appreciation for that, and realizes that he can have a great program, now that he's well-established in the fertile recruiting grounds of Ohio.
A brief conversation with Faust, Davie, Willingham, and Weis would let him know that along with the Notre Dame $$$$ comes a ton of pressure for immediate and constant success (absolutely unrealistic by any stretch of the imagination), and being under a microscope that may really detract from the coaching experience.
So any "honeymoon" will be over the minute he loses back-to-back games, and the crazed alumni could make life miserable there... (any place where 9-3 just isn't good enough, you're sure to be a disappointment, sooner rather than later).

WHO NEEDS THE AGGRAVATION, KELLY ? PLEASE STAY PUT !!!

Tute79,

The ghost of Sherrill leaving still affects Pitt. Lots of blame to go around for the moves after he left. Oh well....

I'm, of course, hoping for a Pitt victory but that Bearcat offense is awesome!
