Oh joy Pounder, now the Pac 10 may come after MT from the Big East.

MT has taken on a lot of these cronies and whooped some serious a@s.

I agree with the article on the media bias to the Pac 10. The Big East gets the very same treatment from the talking heads and anti Pac-10 and Big East honks like Fowler, Herbstreit, Corso, Alberts, May, James, etc.)

At least Alberts bit the dust this past season for speaking the truth about the processes used by ABC/ESPN to down grad the Big East and Pac 10.

Actually the Pac 10 should go after Texas and Colorado and expand to 12. The Pac 10 is use to dealing with spoiled little rich kids and has great academics to go with good all sports conference. Texas would fit in real nicely in the Pac 10.

This would change the outlook for Hanson if he could pull that one off.

Oh please, Lash, MT? MT was asleep or in the buffet line while Swofford was cleaning his clock.

Wow Villanova too much Viagra is not good for the blood pressure.

MT and the Big East has recovered very nicely. The Big East has BCS membership and some very nice bowls.

Factor in the law suite won by the BE football schools and the academic alliance with the ACC and the BE is going to be on strong ground at least on the football side of the house. Actually UConn probably gets a lot of this credit for kicking Swofford sorry a@S.

Not bad at all for a rebuilding conference.

If the show had been on the other foot and BE cherry picked the ACC, Swofford may not have recovered as well.

By the way, what the heck is Villanova doing messing around with 1AA football and may be left behind some day when the football schools decide on all sports. Don't you have some rich alumni that can help.

Lash, what lawsuits won by the BE are you referring to?

Did the BE a few years ago attempt to exploit the rumblings at FSU, GT, and Clemson when they began pushing for ACC expansion and a championship game?
The Big East leadership would certainly have had a wift of this as well as have known early-on Miami was chatting with the ACC.

Though much of the early stuff did not hit the press quickly, I doubt those circles of schools and conferences would have been able to keep such secrets. As to the lawsuits, I doubt the ACC was fully blindsided with them. They knew they were coming and what ultimately changed for the long term from the initial agenda is that Va Tech is in the ACC rather than Syracuse. That said, Swofford and company, while aggressive, were also clumsy and their manner at the time reflected poorly as to academia and collegiate sports. Demonstrating insensitive and self-serving behavior is not necessarily illegal.

As to MT, that is judgment of the BE member institutions through their Presidents as to whether or not they view he is delivering in their interests. Publicly, at least, the BE schools are conveying collective confidence and satisfaction.

At least in the tentative context, I do agree with you the BE rebounded well with good fb additions from C-USA. I wish them success and continued strategic development. I do believe adding a fb school or two that shows promise may be worthy for the future. The 16 team bb is another entity not reflected upon here.

Better say something about the Gator for posting in the wrong place.......... ;)

Well ... the record shows that the BE teams were 13-13 in OOC games against Div 1A opponents.

In contrast, the others were:

Big 10 24- 4
Big 12 23- 5
ACC 24- 9
SEC 24-10
Pac 10 18- 7

Some recovery.

Miss me fellows :-*!

Yes as Lash said Ohio State and Michigan are down. But let's see, didn't Ohio State go toe-to-toe with Texas and are Co-Champions of the B10? They are headed for the BCS aren't they? Penn State won Big10 and BCS rep too and got better, much better; a few seconds and one play (against Michigan) from being undefeated. Michigan is typical Michgan, tend to lose one or a couple they should have won plus had a few big wins. Still bowl bound somewhere good.
Oh my, Lash did make another booboo!

No mention of the Pac-10's reinstated policy of holding a post-season conference tournament? Is the consensus that the reinstatement was a good thing or this just simply limited to football?

Lassette, you are obviously not an Ohio State fan. Buckeye fans do not settle for just going eye to eye especially if the game is played in the shoe.

Michigan losing four games in a season is very unacceptable.

Maybe the boo boo is your paints.

Dogsnthings, sorry overlooked your response with applying to my annoying pest Lassette.

The law suite that was be referred is the settlement provided by the ACC to avoid Miami and BC being sued by UConn, WVU, Pitt, Rutgers.

Miami and BC could have went belly up if the schools had to pay the cost of the stadium construction at UCONN.

The settlement included two games each between ACC and UConn, WVU, Pitt, and Rutgers over a certain period of years. This helps with TV contracts for the Big East.

The most intriguing piece of the settlement is the option for Big East schools to join the plans for the ACC to create an academic consortium similar to I guess the Big 10.

This could have big implications on future BE membership and would probably favor schools like UMass and Delaware over schools such as Marshall and East Carolina. Just a guess.

It plays into the benefits that Gunnerfan has stated on occasions that Big East and ACC may need each other in the future if SEC and Big 12 were to merge or join an alliance such as the Pac 10 and Big 10 have with the Rose Bowl.

Hey if your going to be partners in academics, then why not go all out with sports. Would 20 members be too many for the ACC?

Mike Tranghese doesn't seem to be able to even maintain the BE position with bowls outside the BCS. Not an improvement over Tom Hansen.

Here's my question: How does the Pac-10 improve their bowl position?
