Check out this years rivalries at www.collegefootballrivalries.com and talk a little trash.

My obvious choice is for Army/Navy because of the history and military implications. But the Florida Rivalries have picked up a lot of steam in the 90's and the 21st century.

Blog commenting on only 2 inter-conference games (Tenn. vs UCLA; UGA vs. ASU) this fall between the SEC and PAC 10:

Exact webpage doesn't connect; so here...

"The SEC football schedule is out: Only two Pac-10 games (booooo!)
By Jon Wilner
Monday, April 21st, 2008 at 9:45 am in Arizona State, Pac 10, SEC football, UCLA. Got an email a week or two ago from the SEC home office with the ‘08 football schedule attached. I took a look, hoping beyond hope that we’d see a bevy of SEC vs. Pac-10 matchups.

And of course, I was disappointed. I guess it could be worse: The conferences could easily have missed each other completely.

But given the intersectional rivalry that has developed lately (thanks, Les), how great would it have been for the leagues to hook up four or five times?

(Maybe not great for the Pac-10, which could experience a but of a dip in the fall, while the SEC should be its usual killer self.)

So what we’re left with is one pretty good SEC/Pac-10 game and one potentially huge SEC/Pac-10 game.

Pretty good: Sept. 1: Tennessee at UCLA.

I’m not sure how good the Bruins will be with a new offense to learn and a rebuilt defense. Best guess is that they’re middle of the Pac.

Tennessee is always solid, and you have to give the Vols credit — they’re the only SEC team that regularly schedules intersectional series with BCS schools (Notre Dame, Cal, UCLA, etc.).

Potentially huge: Sept. 20: Georgia at Arizona State.

Georgia figures to open the season in the top-three, possibly at No. 1, while Arizona State should be top-15 or so. The game could have BCS implications.

Georgia will have played Georgia Southern, Central Michigan and South Carolina (road), so the Dawgs could very well enter the game undefeated and No. 1.

ASU once again opens with a handful of home games: Northern Arizona, Stanford, UNLV and then Georgia. So the Sun Devils probably will be undefeated (and in the top 10) when the Dawgs come visiting.

(Then things get tough for the Devils: at Cal, at USC, Oregon, at Oregon State.)"

Arizona State and Notre Dame to play in new Dallas Cowboys Stadium on Oct. 13, 2013:

Posted on Thu, May. 08, 2008 Notre Dame, Arizona State to play at new Cowboys Stadium
By Sports Network - The Sports Network

"The University of Notre Dame and Arizona State University agreed on Thursday to play a college football game at the new Dallas Cowboys stadium in Arlington, TX on October 5, 2013.

Notre Dame will be the home team for the contest, which will be televised by NBC Sports.

The new stadium, which will have a capacity of 80,000 fans that can expand to 100,000 for major events, is under construction and is scheduled to open in the summer of 2009.

"We're thrilled to have a chance to return to North Texas where Notre Dame football has had such a rich tradition, particularly through our appearances in the Cotton Bowl over the years," said Notre Dame Director of Athletics Kevin White. "We're also excited that both our players and our fans will have a chance to experience a football game in what will be a state-of-the-art facility as designed by the Cowboys."

This will be the first meeting between the programs since 1999, when the Fighting Irish thumped the Sun Devils, 48-17 at Notre Dame Stadium."

The Backyard Brawl is 100 years old....You have the city boys (Steel workers) vs. the Eers country boys (Coal region) (Located in the greater Western PA/Pittsburgh MSA) right across the border in Morgantown...Don't underestimate the rivalry or hate...it is one of the great rivalries although not as popular nationally

Michigan-OSU is the best rivalry hands down (UND-USC is a close 2nd though). The rivalry is so prestigious, it should be played at night (for a larger TV audience). In each of the 2 years of ABC's Saturday Night FB, a lesser game has been selected for the 8 PM slot the same day that OSU and UM play.

And 2006 was especially an insult to the spirit of the rivalry, as the 2 teams were ranked #1 and #2 entering the game...and it was scheduled to be played in the afternoon!

I think the game should move to 8 PM on ABC starting this year. The greatest rivalry needs the greatest TV audience possible IMO.
