This is the billion dollar question that will drive the future of Division 1.

Cable / satellite subscribers are cord-cutting to avoid subscription fees for channels that get shoved down their throat, and don't have much / any content that the viewer desires.

The conference networks just don't offer much content other than a few select football games.

MAYBE Google / Netflix / Hulu would pay big bucks for a package of games that should draw a wide audience. But would they be putting themselves in the same position ESPN now finds itself in ?

The FBS schools wold be well-advised to monitor the landscape and maybe prepare for a rainy day when ESPN quits over-paying for TV rights and cable / satellite / internet streaming is forced to move more to a la carte / pay-per-view (and pay rights fees commensurate with ACTUAL VIEWERSHIP, not connect subscribers (who may never watch various TV sports).
