Wow, am I mistaken or is that rate more than the Big Ten network

Lots of great Pac-12 stuff from Jon Wilner, as always, this week.

Pac-12 discussing 3 potential paths for it's new network:

1) Partner with Apple and Google for an internet based channel...entirely via internet. Plan would likely initially be for Google and Apple to help work to get the network on local cable systems. But goal is for even 1 year down the road when virtually all TVs will have internet capability. Figure that the demo interested in the Pac-12 games are the same buying the newest equipment. Not a lot of cable subscribers using a 13 inch black and white TV.

2) flip an existing channel

3) start something new

TKalmas,thanks for the post.
Above SBJ article does point out that BTN averages roughly 70 cents per month for in-footprint subs.
However BTN originally was asking $1.10 per month per sub within footprint and 10 cents per month per sub outside its footprint.LongHorn is asking 40 cents per month per in footprint sub.Interesting to see how that pans out for them.

Quinn, thanks for the posting the Jon Wilner article regarding the PAC 12 Network.

Here is BE MB thread discussing that situation at http://ncaabbs.com/showthread.php?tid=501706

I wonder how much they would save in travel and scholarships by simply downgrading to FCS and joining the Big Sky, they might be able to cut a few more non-revenue sports too. Despite the loss in TV revenue the Big Sky is looking more attractive each day that passes...

TKalmas,thanks for the post.
Idaho AD in the above article clearly states that Idaho will try to increase revenue. No mention of drastically cutting expenses. No mention of Idaho leaving the WAC.
The pre-NCAA rule change speculation of the WAC imploding and Idaho and other WAC schools looking to the Big Sky as an alternative is now rather moot and has been previously discussed on the WAC thread. Please direct any further Idaho to the Big Sky discussion to one of the other more appropriate realignment threads.

Thanks
Freaked
