Hoke was on the hot seat.
I'll say this, he's put together one of the best coaching staffs I've seen in some time at SDSU. The running gag is that the staff is way to good for the existing talent.
As for Long, it didn't work out. The coach has the tasks of getting the talent and performing well. When a coach does a solid job with suspect talent, it still doesn't mean they should retain the job when the school could get a coach that can do both. If that person fails, you find another and so on.
