Here's a fun stat you'll never see anywhere because it means, well, nothing. We see each year during recruiting season, that Texas and Florida are so rich in football talent. And many of those top players stay in those states. But there are programs in Texas other than just in Austin...and other programs in Florida outside of Gainesville.
So here's how this "stats for fun" project works:
I took the records for all the FBS college football programs and organized them by the actual state the school is in. I then tabulated all the data to determine which STATE had the best Win/Loss Percentage.
So without further ado, here is your list of top performing states in FBS football:
Congrats, to the fine state of Idaho.
Only (2) programs with Boise St. and Idaho. And while the 13-0 record for Boise St. was a big help, it was the rare 8-5 record by University of Idaho that was a real surprise this year.
The second best record goes to Wisconsin with it's 1 school in Madison going 10-3 this year.
The 3rd best record is Pennsylvania. Penn St and Pittsburgh both won 10 games this year, but it was Temple's 9-4 record that pushed them up the list.
As for best winning states, that is more of what you were expecting:
#1 was Texas: 69 wins
#2 was Ohio: 52 wins
#3 was Florida: 50 wins
