More info on the NMSU job at:

and

also on the ABQ Journal this was said:
Theus: Ags Have Potential
By Randy Harrison
Journal Staff Writer
He heard fans yell "Yeah, Reggie! Go Aggies!" as he strolled up the ramp leaving the Pit floor on Saturday.
Suffice to say, the next time Reggie Theus is on the home court of the New Mexico Lobos, the reception won't be so warm.
Acknowledging a "badly kept secret," the second-year Louisville assistant confirmed that he's accepted the offer to be New Mexico State's next men's head basketball coach.
"The point is that I think that job has great potential," Theus said from the Louisville locker room after the Cardinals (33-4) defeated West Virginia 93-85 to win the Albuquerque Regional.
"When you start to think, what sells that program to me is you can sell the future."
The future begins Monday for Theus, a two-time NBA all-star who played 13 years in the league. That's when he will be introduced as the Aggies' next coach at a 12:30 p.m. news conference on the NMSU campus, then will return to Louisville to help prepare the Cardinals for next weekend's Final Four in St. Louis.
Theus, 47, is replacing Lou Henson, who retired in January with 779 career victories. Under interim head coach Tony Stubblefield, the Aggies went 6-24 this past season.
Among others known to have expressed interest in the position were former New Mexico assistants Tony Benford (now at Arizona State) and Larry Shyatt (now at Florida), along with former Southern Cal head coach Henry Bibby, former Georgetown head coach Craig Esherick, and Texas Tech assistants Pat Knight and Bubba Jennings.
Theus said not all of the details of his contract have been worked out, though what's left to be agreed upon is "relatively small."

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/basketball/ncaa/03/28/pearl.tenn.ap/index.html

Granted, his stock will never be higher, but couldn't Bruce Pearl have waited for a better situation than Tennessee? Didn't they fire Jerry Green (2001) after four straight NCAA appearances (1998-2001), including a Sweet 16 (2000)? Oh well, probably couldn't have happened to a nicer guy, especially after he pulled a "Trent Johnson" on 'PTI' last week and reminded the audience about the length of his tenure at Southern Indiana to quell rumors about him leaving Wisconsin-Milwaukee...

Also, just heard a ranting Billy Packer on GameNight citing David Stern and the NBA conspiring to "destory basketball"...well, at least we all know that the "student-athletes" at Wisconsin (Oklahoma City, Syracuse) and Michigan State (Worcester, Austin) have been keeping up with their classes the last few weeks...

Are there any other famous sportscasters aside from Billy Paczkowski err...Packer that have "Hollywood" names?

Yeah, and then there's that whole "being implicated in a point shaving investigation involving Wake Forest" thing...

Bring back Joey Meyer (NBDL, Asheville) and Pat Kennedy (CAA, Towson) and have them as co-coaches...
